Hackers3D: Electronic circuits and 3D printing February '24
An important educational visit took place this morning at the Municipal Library of Thermi. The joint initiative of the Municipal Library in collaboration with the responsible teachers of the 2nd GEL Thermi with the aim of disseminating new technologies to the students of the 2nd Lyceum in the context of the wider range of STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics]
The combination of the teaching material of the "Physics of General Education" course and the children's participation in the Zero (Food and Energy) Waste action organized and implemented at the 2nd GEL Thermi, were the ideal conditions for the children's participation in the said Workshop. The aim was to turn the decommissioned speakers into modern devices for wireless reception and playback of audio from smartphones or PCs. There was plenty of circuitry for students to understand the architecture of these systems in relation to quality factors, such as volume and quality of sound, how and how to boost Bluetooth wireless range, and more. Finally, they familiarized themselves with the use of 3D printing applications and devices through the equipment available at the Municipal Library, with the aim of constructing a protective storage framework for the integrated systems, cables and connections of the above arrangement. All constructions resulting from the above WorkShop will remain in the School's Science Laboratory. Workshop coordination: Dimitrios Ververidis, Dr. Informatics, Software developer 3D Graphics Head of Dept. Thermi Library: Vagionas Christos A. Supervisor Directorate of Culture-Social Protection Municipality of Thermi Responsible Professors: Dimitrios Garbounis, Post.Doc., Ph.D., M.Sc., Chemist Leoni Eleni, M.Sc. Biologist ** We thank the Association of Parents & Guardians of the 2nd GEL Thermi, for financing the consumables and accessories needed for the Workshop, as well as Mr. Dimitrios Ververidis for the voluntary coordination of the action.
